taught by Katja Huiras, Sandra Kessel, Carrie Morgan, Alysha Pfeiffer, Megan Ridge, and Jessie Thompson
This program is registered and approved by the National Yoga Alliance, and those who complete all components of the program will be certified to teach, and eligible to apply for RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) status at the 200 Hour level.
The Yoga Loft 200-Hour In-Depth Yoga Study and Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive course designed to deepen your understanding of Yoga, develop your personal practice, and to prepare you to effectively share your love of yoga with others. This program is for aspiring teachers and for all students with a desire to learn more about Asana (the postures), Anatomy and Alignment, Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama & Breathing, Restorative Yoga, How to teach Beginners and Teaching Methodology, including how to sequence and theme yoga classes. Our graduates are recognized for their excellence, and are currently teaching at Yoga Studios, Colleges and Universities, Health Clubs, Spas, Retreat Centers, Hospitals and more. We are extremely proud that all of the teachers at The Yoga Loft have graduated from this program and/or our Advanced 500 Hour Teacher Training program.
Further description of some of the topics we will cover:
Asana Clinics: including Asana (postures), Alignment & Anatomy. This aspect of the program will deepen your personal practice and develop your understanding of the fundamental categories of postures. We will take a careful look at sun salutations, standing poses, backbends, inversions, forward bends, arm balances and restorative poses. You will learn each asana from an anatomical perspective; learning how to align the body for maximum safety and benefit. You will learn about the effects that asana has on your body, both physically and energetically. You will work with your fellow students to learn to see and adjust alignment both in your own yoga practice and for others.
Philosophy: In your study of Yogic Philosophy, you will discover how the ancient wisdom of Pantajali's Yoga Sutras can connect you to your heart and mind, enabling you to live your life with a greater sense of awareness and fulfilment. Lively in-class discussions of the vital concepts of Yoga philosophy give students a level of understanding that extends beyond the classroom to their personal practice, and to every aspect of their lives.
Teaching Methodology: We will discuss and practice teaching methodology including How to Teach Beginners, Hands - on Adjustments, Pose/Counterpose, how to deal with Common Misalignments, how to Use Props and much more. You will have the opportunity to to participate in Practice Teaching sessions in which you will receive personalized feedback. These sessions occur throughout the training, and allow you to refine your verbal skills, as well as provide you with other important teaching tools.
The Art of Sequencing: There is an art to teaching classes that allow you to share the full potential of Yoga with your students. We will examine how to safely sequence the postures using a variety of methods to create classes that are well balanced and incorporate a clear understanding of how the body works, both anatomically and energetically. You will learn to work with themes, both anatomically, posturally and creatively. You will learn how to sequence a wide variety of classes including Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Creative Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga and Beginner Yoga. This aspect of our program is designed to give you all of the tools that you need to design classes that are both highly effective and uniquely your own.
The Yoga Loft's In - Depth Study and Teacher Training program is set apart from other programs of its kind, because we have spent many years developing our program and honing our skills as Teacher Trainers. Every year we carefully refine our topics and curriculum to fit the needs of our students and the community. Additionally, our teachers are highly dedicated, experienced, and passionate about what they do. All of our teachers are either 500-Hour RYT or the equivalent. All of our teachers continue to enrich their knowledge by regularly attending workshops and trainings all over the country with a wide array of teachers in many different styles and methods of yoga. We feel that we take the best and most up-to-date methods of teaching yoga, and offer them to you in our training programs.
